Job Description

Position Purpose

As an Adult Rheumatologist, employee is trained to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal and systemic autoimmune conditions including but not exclusively systemic connective tissue diseases, vasculitides and related disorders, seronegative spondyloarthropathies, rheumatic disorders associated with metabolic, endocrine and hematological disease, bone and cartilage disorders, and hereditary, congenital and inborn errors of metabolism associated with rheumatic syndromes. Employee must have knowledge and training in arthrocentesis and soft tissue injections with or without ultrasound guidance. Employee must also be knowledgeable and trained regarding use and management of chemotherapeutic modalities used in the treatment of the above-stated conditions including DMARD therapy, the use of biologics and small molecule medications. This position is responsible for delivering care in an ambulatory and occasional inpatient setting. The ambulatory setting may also include reaching out to remote ambulatory settings through the use of tele-health medicine. A component of the physician's time will be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate.

Nature and Scope

The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician's area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

4. Ability to obtain results with minimal disruption while involving a variety of internal and external groups.

5. Ability to work independently.

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or foreign equivalent (such as MBBS or MBChB), or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.

Experience:

ACGME-accredited Residency training in Internal Medicine and Fellowship training in Rheumatology, required. Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred.

License(s):

Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.

Certification(s):

Board Eligible or Board Certified in Rheumatology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from , , or .

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
