Job Description

Position Purpose

This position provides direct patient care in the cardiac/pulmonary rehab environment and input to the interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress and ongoing care. Under general supervision, prepares physical exercise programs and administers graded exercise tests. Responsible for training and demonstrating appropriate exercise techniques and equipment usage, as well as documenting and submitting patient progress. Position is critical to the success of patient engagement, program completion and positive patient health outcomes.

Nature and Scope

This position will evaluate and assess cardiac/pulmonary patients participating in the cardiac rehabilitation/ intensive cardiac rehabilitation/ pulmonary rehabilitation (CR/ICR/PR) programs and develop an exercise prescription in conjunction with the Medical Director that meets the needs of each individual patient. Position will be responsible for all components of patient enrollment and orientation into program.

Position is responsible for providing optimal patient care, working with multidisciplinary team to modify and adapt Individual Treatment Plan(s) as patient(s) progresses through the program. Incumbent will act as a coach and liaison for all activities in which the patients participate and will have a good knowledge base regarding the content taught in both video and didactic lectures.

The incumbent demonstrates and supervises the use of rehab equipment to patients and new staff (treadmill, stationary bicycle, wall pulleys, free weights, rowing machine, and arm ergometer, etc.).

Position conducts phase II CR/ICR according to policies and procedures and follows measures and guidelines of AACVPR accreditation under the direction of the Director and Medical Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.

Must have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field or must have successfully completed a cardiovascular program with a non-invasive specialty.

Experience:

Experience in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation and/or stress testing preferred.

License(s):

None

Certification(s):

Maintain active BLS and/or ACLS certification. Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) Certification Preferred.

Computer / Typing:

Professional:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
