Job Summary:

This position is a managerial role in which the main functions are the supervision of assigned employees, responsible for consumable purchasing, financial budgeting, and control. Position is also responsible for resource production planning, occasional unscheduled non-supervisory work serving as a backup during staff shortages as an exception to the normal duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead, and hire gateway staff (if applicable)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain strong technical relationships with service providers and Globalstar Ground Ops team and Engineering Technical Support teams
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the Gateway Systems and Components
  • Ensure established preventative maintenance routines are rigorously adhered to
  • Provide direction and hands-on support for all the gateway systems
  • Occasional unscheduled non-supervisory work during staff shortages

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of telecommunication systems and protocols including TCP/IP, SNMP

Education and Experience:

  • Professional designation such as engineering technician or technologist in Electronics, Computer Science, or Information Systems (or equivalent) from a recognized institution or equivalent military training and experience
  • Five (5) years of hands-on experience in a telecommunication operational environment preferred
  • Detailed technical knowledge of computer and telecommunication equipment and systems such as PSTN, LAN, WAN, UNIX, and personal computer operating systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
