Job Description

Position Purpose

As a general, clinical cardiologist, employee will provide clinical services to persons who present with diseases of the heart and blood vessels and manage complex cardiac conditions. The position requires the ability to admit, work up, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to adult patients with cardiovascular disease. Position requires completion of a clinical cardiology fellowship or meet previous experience requirements.

In addition to the same clinical services provided by a general, clinical cardiologist, the electrophysiologist position requires completion of an approved invasive electrophysiology

fellowship training program or previous required experience in the past 24 months and ultimately active candidacy for board certification in electrophysiology. The position includes the ability to admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to acute and chronically ill adult patients with heart rhythm disorders, including the performance of invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac electrophysiology procedures

Nature and Scope

The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician's area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system.

1. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules.

2. Capable of operating business units in conformance with good quality and business practices as may be outlined by agencies such as The Joint Commission, NCQA, MGMA, etc.

3. Effective leadership skills (and leading by example).

4. Ability to obtain results with minimal disruption while involving a variety of internal and external groups.

5. Ability to work independently.

This position does provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.

Experience:

Prior experience in referenced specialty. Successful completion of Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship, required.

License(s):

Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.

Certification(s):

Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), and Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification(s) must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.

Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
