Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Civil CAD Designer 2, we'll count on you to:

  • With occasional assistance from project engineers and managers, produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software
  • Produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphical representations of engineering designs using computer-aided drafting software with intermittent assistance from project engineers and managers.
  • Have great communication skills to effectively coordinate with project design teams consisting of Engineers, CAD Designers and Technicians to successfully complete a project.
  • Possess a strong sense of ownership and cooperate well with a team to produce great products on time and on budget.
  • Have a strong independent and collaborative work ethic.
  • Eagerness to learn from senior CAD and engineering staff.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associates / Certificate in CAD Drafting or Civil Technology or satisfactory work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in the use of AutoCAD with civil engineering/site development projects.

  • Requires good working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, LDD, construction documents and technical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software

  • Proficiency in learning and following client drafting, pentable, and layer control standards.

  • Proficiency in developing, modifying, and compiling a set of design drawings, including the following sections: General, Surveying, Plan and Profile, Civil Details, Mechanical Details, Electrical and Instrumentation

  • Possess an understanding about implementing specific project design criteria.

  • An Attitude and Commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with utilizing survey data to develop a terrain model (site grading)
  • Familiarity with modifying breaklines and TINs of the existing terrain to create a finish grade model.
  • Have experience with AutoCAD pressure pipe and gravity pipe networks (for drainage, sewer, water).
  • Experience with using AutoCAD corridors for roadway design.
