Job Description

Position Purpose

This position provides day to day direction and coordination of the Social Services Department, serving as a resource and support for staff in providing psychosocial intervention and managing patient care through the continuum of services. The Supervisor also acts as the liaison to internal and external customers as well as provides direct patient care as part of the care coordination department as needed.

Nature and Scope

Supervision of Social Services to include oversight of day-to-day operations, direction of new employee orientation, staff education and enrichment, staff development including annual competency, continuing education, and licensing requirements.

Participates in the development of departmental policies and procedures, serving as a communication link between management and staff. Acts as a resource and provides guidance towards resolution of issues.

Participates in the interview and selection process for new department candidates. Conducts staff performance evaluations, meeting scheduled deadlines. Supervises staff scheduling procedures to ensure adequate coverage is achieved for scheduled and unscheduled absences. Provides staff counseling, conflict resolution and initiates corrective action were indicated within Renown Health System policies.

Establishes and maintains avenues of communication between the Social Services Department and all Renown Health System departments and entities.

Exemplifies and promotes the spirit of teamwork toward the goals and vision of Renown Health System. Supports the Renown Health System Standards of Conduct.

This position does provide direct patient care.

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Ability to read, write and speak English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Social Work licensure in the State of Nevada.

Experience:

Requires one year of experience in social services, 2 years preferred. Leadership and healthcare experience preferred.

License(s):

Ability to obtain and maintain State of Nevada Social Worker licensure.

Certification(s):

None

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
